Totally unspoiled and uncluttered, the
101 Area offers guests
the best fishing and scenic views on Lake Norfork.
Commercial docks on the lake have
boats, motors, guides for hire, and equipment for scuba diving, a
popular sport in the crystal clear water. In addition to parks for
camping, there are many resorts offering various accommodations,
some with private docks, swimming pools, and cable TV. Restaurants
serve full menus, breakfast through supper. Area stores offer full
services from gas, bait and groceries to souvenirs and fish tales.

Isolated from all the crowding on
other parts of the lake, the 101 Area is just across the lake from
Mountain Home which also offers a wide range of additional
recreational facilities such as movie theaters, tennis courts, ball
diamonds, bowling lanes and golf courses, as well as shopping
centers and craft and antique stores.

At the Pigeon Creek National Recreational
Trail System you can day hike or mountain bike on 11 different stacked
loop trails wandering 12 miles through the Ozark forest. Hike or bike
as little as 1/2 mile or as much as 12 miles. Because of their stacked
loop layout, you can hike all 12 miles with only 200 yards of
retracing trail you have already covered. These well-groomed trails
vary in difficulty from beginner to intermediate. No motorized
vehicles or horses are allowed. Only bicycles and people! Trails pass
through several eco land types including prairie glade, pine groves,
hardwood stands, and lakeshore transition zones. The Dwarf Chinkapin
oak, found in only a few areas of the world, grows along these trails.
